Beating the Bug and Staying On Track

Behind the Scenes at the Show of Hearts Telethon with Howard Blank

I am now beginning the 4th quarter of my Innovative Fitness health journey. The results? My balance has never been stronger. I can finally see a difference in my face, and my overall strength and stamina are better than when I was in college!!

Coming home from a successful business trip in late February I was excited to get back to the IF Studio and continue my 3x weekly workouts with my amazing trainers. The following Saturday night however, I could tell something was off. By Sunday, sure enough, I tested positive for Covid.

The irony is, I’ve been travelling to and from the U.S. for over a year during this pandemic and have been extremely careful, testing negative every time. Then back in safe BC, I’d become the latest statistic to be infected. The good news? I am triple-vaxxed. The bad news? That Covid-19 Omicron variant went straight for my chest, and made breathing more difficult, especially when walking and exercising.

I followed the protocols and self-isolated for a week. Boy was I ever excited to get back to Innovative Fitness on Monday, March 7th . I was mentally revving to go, but my still horribly congested chest was in disagreement. When I arrived at IF my trainer absolutely understood my predicament and we began our regimen with an emphasis on extremely light cardio, and building my strength up slowly.

I cannot express my gratitude to my two trainers. They were incredibly patient and each had my back, literally! With my own “health and wellness team”, including my doctor and my professional training coaches from IF, I was able to work through my congestion, gradually rebuild my strength, and can happily say that I am “clear” and healthy!

This is a BIG deal. Why? Being one who would normally sit out and wait to be 100%, with the help from my “health team” I was able to carefully continue my positive forward direction, and actually SPEED UP the healing process through carefully crafted fitness sessions.

The moral of this story: Don’t ever be afraid to reach out for help and assistance. And temporarily slowing down is not the same as stopping!

I am so thankful for the careful training I received from my Innovative Fitness professional training coaches, and health team pre, during, and post – health issue.

Today I am stronger and healthier! And my growth continues…

So glad you posted this, I would have sat out until I was 100% as well.
I am following your journey and find you very motivating.
